Tollow Dojo Ukiah Shorin-ryu was founded in 1983 at the local Health Club. It was known as Mendocino Martial Arts. After ten months The Boy Scouts of America endorced our karate training and donated the veteran’s memorial building to us to train. At that time we were known as Explorer post 213. We were the first karate program ever endorsed by the B.S.A in 1984.

In March 1987 Grandmaster John Tollow, opened his the doors to his own building, 3001 South state street.

Tollow Dojo offers a traditional Dojo to train in and learn the traditional art of, Matsubyashi Shorin-Ryu. We are known as a life skills Dojo, introducing the words and the meaning of HONESTY, PATIENCE, FOCUS, KINDNESS, RESPECT, PERSEVERANCE, COMMITMENT, LEADERSHIP, COMPASSION, and LOYALTY.
